Adorable St. Bernard Holds Record for Longest Tongue in World
Meet Mochi, a lovable St. Bernard who is believed to have the longest canine tongue in the world.
The playful dog’s tongue measures in at 7.3 inches long and was recently given the Guinness World Record “for the longest tongue ever seen on a dog.”
“When we open the Guinness World Records book and see Mochi’s picture in there, we’re going to feel very proud,” Carla Rickert, the dog’s owner, told Inside Edition. “It will make all the slobber we’ve cleaned up over the last six-and-a-half years worth it!”
Rickert rescued Mochi when she was just 2 years old, and Rickert hopes that Mochi’s world record will help bring attention to and promote rescue centers and dog adoption.
“With this record, we hope to bring attention to how much joy rescued animals can bring to their new family,” Rickert told Inside Edition. “This once-abused and neglected pup has taught us that it’s OK to be different. We are proud of her unique feature.”
Rickert is still shocked that the dog she rescued ended up in the Guinness Book of World Records.
“It still does not seem real!” Rickert explained to Inside Edition. “Mochi is so humble. She never brags or boasts, but I know that she is as proud of her new record as we are.”
