Apparently, Ellen DeGeneres has mixed feelings about hosting The Ellen DeGeneres Show. In a recent interview with the New York Times, DeGeneres said that although she renewed her contract for the show through 2020, she almost didn't. Apparently, her wife Portia de Rossi wanted her to step down.
DeGeneres is encouraged constantly by her brother Vance to stay on as host. " gets mad when my brother tells me I can't stop," said Ellen.
"I just think she's such a brilliant actress and standup," responded de Rossi, "That it doesn't have to be this talk show for her creativity; there are other things she could tackle."
This is a notion that Ellen apparently agrees with. She hopes to act more in the future. She's actually hoping to play a villain at some point.
In the interview, Ellen also addressed circulating rumors that she and Portia are on the rocks. "I hear Portia and I are divorcing every other week or having a baby or whatever."
DeGeneres has a new Netflix special, titled Relatable, debuting on December 18. For the time being, that may be the only other creative outlet she has other than the talk show. Ellen is still one of the most popular personalities on television.
