Today, Jersey Shore star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino received a prison sentence after pleading guilty to tax evasion. He is facing an eight-month sentence, to be followed by two years of supervised release. He will also be obligated to pay a $10,000 fine and perform 500 hours of community service.
The sentence came after Sorrentino appealed to Judge Susan Wigenton for a "second chance." He attempted to pull the heartstrings, but they didn't play. "I'm deeply sorry for my past actions. Today I'm teh man that I should've been years ago. I've worked tirelessly to overcome my demons and put my life back together... Today I live with integrity. I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I don't cheat, I don't steal, I don't even drive fast anymore... I found my purpose in sobriety. People can look at me and say, 'If he can do it, I can.'"
Wingeton was not terribly moved. She responded with a droll, "You've been given a gift to basically be yourself and get paid for it. You have to pay taxes."
Present at the sentencing were multiple other Jersey Shore cast members, including JWoww, Snooki, Ronnie, Vinny, Deena, Angelina and Pauly D. His fiancee Lauren Pesce was also in attendance.
"What do you say to your fans?" A reporter yelled as The Situation exited the courtroom. In response, he merely held up two peace fingers.
